I had bought Chanel Les Vernis Nail Colour Pirate 08 (151 is new improved shade of pirate Le Vernis) when it was first released years ago. Unfortunately, I gave it away because I wasn’t much into reds back then.

It was a good thing that it had been repromoted as part of the Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss Collection. So, I was able to buy another bottle of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish to keep for myself.

Overview

Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is classified as a true red. Looking at its color in the bottle, it seems to be similar to Chanel Tentation Nail Polish but without the shimmers.

As you may already know, I am always attracted to shimmery nail polishes and shimmers is often one of my deciding factors when choosing a nail polish.

Chanel Pirate nail polish has no shimmers but I love the pinkish magenta tinge it has.

Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is a bit darker than most of my red nail polishes. It is definitely cool-toned and I can tell that it isn’t a boring color even from just looking at it in the bottle.

I believe that Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is not for the younger generation as it will suit mature women more.

But, if it will be used for nail art, then I guess even teenagers can rock it on their nails.

Performance

On my nails, Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is true to its color. It’s a very gorgeous dark and vampy blood red with a little bit of shine.

Chanel Pirate has a sort of gel-like consistency and it applies rather easily and glides on smoothly over my nails. Its consistency is not too thin nor too thick. Chanel Pirate Nail Polish applied evenly without streaking.

However, I experienced a few bubbles, but not too much to get me all worked up. I can live with a few bubbles on my nails.

Chanel Pirate Nail Polish Swatches

One coating of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is already semi-opaque and the color is a cool-toned pinkish red. For the photos in this post, I applied 3 coats on my nails to have a more even, beautiful and smoother result.

When 3 coats is applied, the color becomes a dark blood red that looks already vampy to me. (See photos above) I believe that Chanel Pirate Nail Polish will probably last around 4-5 days on me before it chips around the edges.

My Experience

With just one coat (left photo above), the color is much similar to Chanel Tentation nail polish. 2 coats of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish makes it more like a true red and 3 coats make it vampy dark red.

I prefer the resulting color made with just 2 coats, so next time I’ll probably apply 2 coats only. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes for Chanel Pirate Nail Polish to completely dry up.

I resisted the temptation to touch my painted nails to check if it’s already dry, but after about 10 minutes when I just couldn’t handle it anymore and did touch just the one on my little finger, it was already completely dry and set.

Final Thoughts and my Opinion

I bought Chanel Pirate Nail Polish for $27 at Chanel and I think that it’s a must-have nail polish this Holiday season, as it’s absolutely gorgeous on the nails.

I’m not sure if it is a Limited Edition or had been added to the Permanent collection, but if you want Chanel Pirate Nail Polish, you can buy it here and here for $27 to $32.

It’s beautiful Eve and I think that my nails are ready for tonight’s party. I just have to pair it with a glam look for my face as well.
